It will be argued that his literary work deserves inclusion as an artistic piece because of its importance to any understanding of the role of the artist in the Renaissance; a life characterized by insecure funding yet enormous social status. Moreover, the insights of Cellini into his own creative process tells us volumes about the practice of Renaissance art.
