The pro-choice movements uphold women's rights to abortion, which have become a part of America's cultural and civil rights movements. All too often, it concerns abortion debate but surrounds broader perspectives of human rights in general and women rights in particular. Like feminist movements, the pro-choice movements in the United States have diverged along many strands based on different interpretation of abortion rights. However, all of them are rooted in a common history of the suppression of abortion rights and struggles for legalizing abortion. This paper examines some of the historical events, which are known as landmarks in American abortion history, and which have reshaped the pro-choice movements.
